About the event

Yatra - An Journey into Dance - What's it all about?

At Fundamental Sound we are passionate about creating a clear and high frequency space for dance! Our mission is to create events with high production value - safe spaces for exploration, release and connection -  where you and your tribe can gather to enjoy your Self and Other. Come as a guest, leave as a Friend!

[Fundamentally] it's about gathering together and dancing in a field of high defintition sound!

The best quality sound has always been our aim and ethos...to put together a dance space and take you on a journey of movement and into the heart, providing opportunity for joy, connection, heart, dissolution, healing, clarity, friendship and peace (of mind).

The times we are living through are challenging for many of us and we wish to create and hold a space where we can gather together to remember the important elements of what it means to be alive in a body at this time - connection to heart, body, mind, spirit and of course, Earth.

The Core Elements of Our Dance

- Be Heart : Focus on creating, holding and sharing an open hearted environment for others to enter, join and expand into.

- Be Present: observing what is arising in our being as well as  in the space.

- Be Conscious: we recommend minimum use of substances and ecourage you to explore the high states you can achieve just by movement, breath and being in Presence.

Specifics & More Detail

Dances of Universal Peace

We begin with the Dances of Universal Peace. Drawing on the sacred phrases and poetry of the many spiritual traditions of the earth, the Dances blend chant, acoustic music and evocative movement into a living experience of unity, peace and integration. These moments offers us a chance to meet, both with each other but most importantly with our Self. Together, we create a space to open, connect and harmonise with the taste of our true nature as Universal Peace.

Kakau Circle

Together in circle, we sit to set an intent for our journey and seal it with a drink of quality Guatamalan Cacao. This element of our gathering offers the chance to turn more deeply inside and shine a of focus onto the issues or pieces of the puzzle we want to work with in our dance.

Of course, the plant Cacao has been revered across centuries and for good reason - she has innate healing properties, both on gross and more subtle levels. Many people report a heart opening effect. Cacao forms an elemental basis for these gatherings not only because of these healing and opening properties but also because of the energy the plant supports inside the physical body which naturally brings good energy to move.

Yatra Dance

Our music forms a vital and integral part of this journey. Expect a crafted blend of ethnic and tribal sounds, carefully curated to support your journey and create your liminal space for internal exploration. If all goes according to plan, you should be landed back on terra for the closing.

We consider the dance floor as a sacred space.  To ensure that we can co-create and together hold a clean and high frequency in the space we respectfully ask for your support and co-operation:

  • be present. No phones, no cameras.
  • be embodied. No talking.
  • be clear. No substances.
  • be consensual. Listen for a yes, respect a no.
  • be free. Dance as you feel, no judgement.

When we step on the dance floor, we include our whole selves, even the frightened parts that want to hide. We dance through pain and sorrow. We dance with joy until our hard edges soften and our masks fall away. We meet other courageous dancers, weaving unbreakable threads of connection. Our friendships transcend the boundaries of time and space. And it all melts together– beat, movement, breath– into a swirling vortex we call community. As the throbbing pulse of the dance floor matches our own heartbeat, we know, without a doubt, we are not alone.

Yatra Dance - Closing

All good things come to an end. And an end therefore naturally opens to new beginnings. As the journey slows, we have again the chance to join for some moments to share, if you wish. Landing back, embodied, open, energy burnt is energy renewed. The experience has brought fresh insight, the work is closed and we are ready to begin again.

Camping

For those of you that want to sleep over, some limited spots are available for camping. Camping is an additional 10€ per person for the night. We request that all guests leave the land by midday on the 24th

Use of the Lake

There is a beautiful fresh water lake available for swimming. Use of the lake is at your own risk. Please don't use sunscreen if you want to use the lake and supervise your young around the water.

As well all know - and respect - fire is a serious hazard in rural Portugal. We remind you to take the risk of fire extremely seriously and to not use any type of naked light, candles, incenses etc in any areas.  If you smoke, please do so only in the designated smoking area.
